Safeguarding Training for Children and Vulnerable Adults

Sirius offer safeguarding training courses for those working with children and vulnerable adults.

Based in South Dorset Sirius is uniquely placed to offer our courses for those in the area. Make sure your staff are correctly training to the highest standards by our qualified and experienced trainers. We offer two safeguarding training courses the Level 3 Safeguarding Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults and Safeguarding Awareness.

Level 3 Safeguarding Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults

This qualification is designed for those who have contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults in their working environment including voluntary work and is suitable for GP and Dental Practices, Schools, Colleges and other educational establishments, Visitor Attractions, sports and youth clubs, charitable and voluntary and any other business or organisation that comes into contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults. This qualification is suitable for manager, supervisors, safeguarding leads and anyone involved in the safeguarding process.

The qualification promotes awareness and sensitivity to safeguarding enabling learners to be able to identify issues and emphasises the responsibility to ensure that concerns are reported and acted on appropriately. The qualification covers recognition of the characteristics of different of abuse etc., how to respond to a disclosure, onward reporting and information sharing and how adults can protect themselves from allegations and complaints.

The qualification is a one day course with some pre-reading, the class room session includes interactive breakout sessions. To be awarded the qualification delegates must attend and fully participate in the course and successfully complete the formal written assessment paper.


Safeguarding Awareness

This short awareness course is designed for those who need an awareness of safeguarding in the roles they undertake. It is suitable for those who have contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults in their working environment including voluntary work and is suitable for GP and Dental Practices, Schools, Colleges and other educational establishments, Visitor Attractions, sports and youth clubs, charitable and voluntary and any other business or organisation that comes into contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults.

This course focuses on the individuals role in the safeguarding process, recognition of the characteristics of different of abuse etc., how to respond to a disclosure, what to do, and what not to do, and how adults can protect themselves from allegations and complaints. This course is not designed for those who have managerial responsibility for the safeguarding process.

The training which can be tailored for each workplace or situation is usually between 2 and 3.5 hours class room time and includes interactive breakout sessions. To be awarded the certificate delegates must attend and fully participate in the course.
