Description
This course gives delegates an understanding of the risk to businesses and government departments/agencies in the UK today from terrorist and extremist organisations. It provides practical training on how to react to a threat in the form of a telephone threat call, a bomb or biological device received in the post, or a bomb placed outside or inside the building. The course uses practical sessions to demonstrate how to be vigilant for a postal bombs and other suspect packages and what actions should be taken in an emergency situation.
Duration
A minimum of 6 hours consisting of theoretical and practical activities.

- Assessment of threats
- The improvised explosive device (IED)
- Chemical and biological threats
- Other suspect/dangerous packages
- Practical exercises
- Procedures and actions to be taken
- Suspect Packages
- To understand the threat from, recognition of, and actions to be taken in relation to suspect packages.
- Telephone Threats
- To understand how to deal with telephone threats, what to record and the actions to be taken.
- Contingency Plans
- How contingency plans reduce confusion and manage the risk when dealing with various types of threat.

Certification
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, and a certificate will be issued to those who attend the full session and meet the criteria.
Numbers
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
